        Recipe Baking: Steak & rice dishes  Directory    

   Recipe Baking: SPECIAL STEAK & RICE

  1 lb. round steak
1/4 c. oil
1 clove garlic (or powder)
1 onion, cut in lg. pieces
2 green pepper, cut in lg. pieces
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. beef bouillon
1 tbsp. soy sauce
Hot cooked rice (2 c. water - 1 c.
rice)

Have meat tenderized and cut into bite-size pieces. Heat oil and add whole garlic clove, saute 3 minutes. Remove garlic and discard. Add meat and brown 10 to 15 minutes. Add onions, peppers, salt, pepper and ginger. Cook 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch, beef bouillon and soy sauce. Pour into meat mixture. Cook and stir until thickened. Serve over hot rice. (I usually use 1 1/2 pounds steak and double the ginger, cornstarch, bouillon and soy sauce.)

                     STEAK AND RICE

 1 1/2 lb. tenderized beef round steak
2 lg. onions, cut in 1/2 inch slices
and separated into rings
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 1/2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drain and
save liquid
1/2 c. dry sherry
3 c. cooked hot rice

Cut steak into thin strips. In a large skillet, brown meat in oil, using high heat. Add onions; saute until tender-crisp. Blend soup, sherry, liquid from mushrooms and garlic salt. Pour over steak. Add mushrooms. Simmer for 1 hour. Serve over rice.
