 Recipe Baking: STEAK AND POTATO Directory    

   Recipe Baking: BEEF STEAK POTATO SCALLOP


   1 lb. beef round steak, 1 inch thick
3 tbsp. shortening
3 sm. onions, thinly sliced
3 med. potatoes, pared and thinly
sliced
3 tbsp. flour
2 c. water
Dash garlic salt
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Dash thyme
Paprika

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cut meat into 1 inch cubes, coat with flour. Melt shortening in skillet, brown meat, add onions, cook and stir until onions is tender. Pour into ungreased 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper, thyme and garlic salt. Pour water over mixture, cover. Bake 45 to 60 minutes or until meat is tender. Increase oven temperature to 450 degrees. Arrange potatoes over meat, sprinkle with salt and paprika. Bake uncovered 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1/2 c. Heinz #57 steak sauce
3 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. wine vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Score steak lightly. Combine ingredients. Marinate several hours. Grill until desired doneness. Slice in angle and thin
