   Recipe Baking: YOGURT - MARINATED SIRLOIN STEAK


 1 beef sirloin steak, cut 1" thick
(about 2 lb.)
1/2 c. plain low-fat yogurt
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp. curry powder
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1/2 tsp. salt

Combine yogurt, oil, garlic, curry, hot pepper sauce and salt. Place steak in plastic bag; add marinade, spreading evenly over both sides. Tie bag securely and marinate in refrigerator 6-8 hours (or overnight, if desired), turning at least once. Remove steak from marinade. Place steak on grill over ash covered coals (or on rack in broiler pan) so surface of meat is 4 inches from heat and broil 16-20 minutes to desired doneness (rare or medium), turning once. 5-6 servings. 202 calories per serving.

 CHINESE STEAK

 2 tbsp. peanut oil
3 c. finely shredded cabbage
1 c. chicken broth, canned or homemade
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
4 tbsp. soy sauce
1 1/2 lb. steak (sirloin), 1/4 inch
thick, cut in 2 inch strips

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in saucepan, stir in cabbage and cook over low heat 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add 1/4 cup of broth; cover and cook over low heat for 5 minutes, then drain. Mix the cornstarch, garlic powder and soy sauce in a saucepan until smooth. Add the remaining broth and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the boiling point is reached. Cook 5 minutes longer. Heat the remaining oil in a skillet; brown the meat in it over high heat. Add the sauce. Arrange the cabbage on a heated platter and pour the steak and sauce over it. Serves 6 - 325 calories per serving.
