  Recipe Baking: Steak - casseroles recipe    

   Recipe Baking: ROUND STEAK CASSEROLE

  1 lb. round steak
1 c. beef broth
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1/4 c. red wine
1 onion, minced
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
1 c. carrots, thinly sliced
1 c. celery, sliced
1/2 lb. mushrooms, chopped
1/2 can water chestnuts
1/4 c. cold water
2 tbsp. cornstarch

Cube meat in 1/2 inch strips. Brown in 3 tablespoons cooking oil. Add broth, soy sauce and wine. Cover and simmer 45 minutes. Add vegetables and continue to simmer 20 minutes. Combine cornstarch and water. Add to meat mixture. Stir until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in cheese. Serve over rice or noodles (especially good served over Chinese noodles). Serves 6.

                                 STEAK & WILD RICE CASSEROLE

 1 1/2 lbs. family steak
1 c. chopped onion
3 c. chopped celery
1 can mushrooms
1 can mushroom soup
4 tsp. soy sauce
1 pkg. Uncle Ben's grain & wild rice
3 1/2 c. boiling water

Cut meat into small chunks. Brown. Add onions, celery soup and mushrooms. Combine with remaining ingredients in large casserole, simmer 10 minutes first, then bake covered at 350 degrees about 45 minutes. This works real well prepared in an electric fry pan.
