Recipe Baking: PUMPKIN COOKIES (HALLOWEEN)

 1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. margarine
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. cooked pumpkin
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped dates

Cream sugars, margarine and eggs; add pumpkin, flour, salt, soda, spices, baking powder, nut and dates. Make into cookies. Bake at 350 degrees until done. Yield: 5 dozen. FROSTING:
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Powdered sugar

Boil first 3 ingredients for 1 minute. Add milk and vanilla; cool to lukewarm. Add enough sugar until it is of spreading consistency. Spread on cookies.
